In August 2008, Homewood Retirement Centers was approved for the purchase of 58 acres in Strasburg, Virginia for the construction of a new Continuing Care Retirement Community to be named “Homewood at Shenandoah Valley”.
The picturesque setting, located along US Route 11, is bordered on three sides by protected land - meaning the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains will only change with the seasons. Bordering the road access is a new commercial strip containing restaurants, medical offices, a bank and a hotel. The property is in close proximity to Interstates 81 and 66, providing easy access to northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and the I-81 corridor. As a resident of Homewood of the Shenandoah Valley, you’ll be just minutes from Winchester, Virginia and less than two hours from our nation's capital and its suburbs.
The new community, to be built in three phases, is slated to include 118 independent living cottages, 60 independent living apartments, 40 assisted living units and 20 to 40 skilled nursing beds. The first phase of 32 EarthCraft House cottages began construction during the spring of 2009 and will open the following autumn. The amenity-rich community center, planned for the second phase, will incorporate all the typical Homewood features, including a fitness center, indoor pool, game rooms, library, a country store and dining venues.
Homewood is delighted to serve the Strasburg area by offering this new, state-of-the-art Continuing Care Retirement Community in Shenandoah County.
